Week 4

Diagnosis
I'm feeling good with all the food changes I like the fact that I don't feel deprived from eating other foods. I’m learning that this life style change is about making the right choices when eating at or eating out.

Night before the triathlon we met up for dinner with our team member, they all wanted to carb up with Italian food. The Italian restaurant didn't have many healthy choices, so i ordered a side salad and chicken with no cheese over spaghetti. I didn't like my meal, it had no flavor. I ended up eating a slice of pizza and one serving of meat lasagna from other people's food. After dinner we had frozen yogurt, I had 1/2 cup with one gummy warm.

The morning of the triathlon i had papaya, strawberries and spinach shake. I wasn't sure if it was going to hold me thru the entire event, i was afraid i was going to run out of energies. I drank about 3/4 of it, I drank more hoping that it would hold me while we waited for the speech and the waves ahead of me.

The swim portion of the triathlon was definitely an experience. I was a little scared. Outside waves were crashing and where the white foam ended new waves would start. We had to swim in between both waves. The water was very choppy and cold but too much stuff was happening that the cold water didn't bother me. I was scared to swim with my head in the water, i was afraid that a wave would crash down on me and I wouldn't be able to breath so i swam the entire distance with my head up. I finally got to the turn where i had to swim out. The exit part of the swim is my least favorite. The way the water was I was afraid the waves were going to tumble me around. I was going to suck it up swim and look back and if a wave was coming i was going to take a big breath and let the wave do what it needed to. Right when I was about to swim out i heard Julie call my name, she found me. Don't know how she found me, there were a lot of people around me but she did, it was a relief. I felt so much safer having her there. She helped me get out without waves knocking us down.
The rest of the triathlon was good, the bike and run course were flat.

After the triathlon we hung around and i had a 1/3 or a Luna bar (tester bar) I left my Lara bars at home :(. But I wasn’t hungry.

We had lunch at a Mexican Cantina, no healthy food there. I split half a breakfast, bacon, potato, and egg burrito and half of a carne asada with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and cheese burrito with Julie. I was stuffed, I hate having that full feeling. I was satisfied with eating half of a burrito but no, they both tasted good that I had to eat both of them, however, this is something that i'm working at. Overall all, I’m making progress with everything, I feel good and I’m starting to like how I feel.
