Back Home

Back home after two weeks of travel. We did really really well while traveling. Only a couple moments when we ignored our diet in preference to the folks we were enjoying our visits with. Now home and back on track!

Saying No to Dairy

At the urging of my wife, a Nutritionist, I said goodbye to dairy about 3 weeks ago. You must understand that I am someone who loves cheese of all kinds. My dream had been to try a different international cheese every weekend for a year.

December 2010

I am now off of all medication! My glucose numbers are normal. In the process I've lost only 50 pounds -- still wanna loose another 10 or 20.

My blood pressure is still pre-hypertensive, but I believe some more weight lost and diet adjustment will remedy that.

Winter of 2009 / 2010

In the winter of 2009 I began spinning. What a wonderful find! I was committed to getting my weight down and fighting diabetes with exercise and medicine.

So in the spring of 2008 I began seeing the new Dr. He changed up my prescriptions and began a routine of visiting with me, in his office, every two weeks to monitor progress.

Gettin' Started

In the fall of 2007 I decided to visit a Dr. to have a physical. The physical came back poorly, and my second visit to the Dr. and second blood work revealed my glucose at 180. That along with my A1C lead the doctor to diagnose me with Type II diabetes.
