Surgery is over

Treatment
Back in November, after having interviewed several doctors regarding my condition, I decided to go with a robot assisted radical prostatectomy. The surgeon I choose has done more than 1,000 of these procedures and his outcomes seemed very good. Monday I had the surgery and was home Tuesday afternoon. The only glitch so far is excessive drainage from the site where lymph nodes were taken, but I assume this will clear up in a day or two.

It's hard to believe I've been through such major surgery and all ready I'm walking between 1-3 blocks several times a day. My bowels regained function yesterday and my appetite is returning slowly. All I'm waiting for now is the pathology report that will hopefully give me a clean bill of health. Prior to the surgery I had an Endorectal MRI and was told everything looked contained. Now it's just a waiting game.

I think this whole process has been harder on my wife than on me. Leading up to the surgery she was very upset, but now that I'm home she's really a tremendous support and completely positive. I'm lucky to have her!

I assume I'll be getting the results from the pathologist around the 20th. If everything is clear it will be the best Christmas present I have ever had.
