Carmageddon? Carmaheaven?

Wellbeing
I have been interning for My Bridge 4 Life for about a month now. I can truly say this internship has created more awareness of my personal health and the simple things I let slip by, when schedules get hectic and life starts moving at a pace I can’t handle.

This past weekend was carmageddon, when the infamous 405 freeway in LA County was temporarily closed for the weekend. The news and media advertised it as a weekend that Los Angelinos could not survive through. But in reality this weekend, was a peaceful weekend. Sure our city is known for our driving and our cars are practically glued to our hips. But this weekend taught me the importance of a relaxing weekend.

Here is a list of four simple ways you can transform your weekend so Monday is a fresh start rather than a dreadful morning!

1. Time away from the computer, try it!
Dedicate your whole Saturday to no computer, smart phone, or any device that makes the weekend more about what you need to do, rather than what you want to do.

2. Fresh breath of the outdoors
This weekend with everyone staying local I saw a lot more of summer loving. From nature hikes, to crowded parks, people were getting in touch with nature and what summer has to offer.

3. Community
This past weekend, my family and I got in touch with old friends at a local concert in Woodland Hills. During the summer, community events from farmers markets to concerts in the park are a daily activity, so take time and enjoy!

4. Laughter
Take the time to laugh. Laughter is one way to release stress, anxiety, and tension.
