Since she began her fundraising efforts, Michelle Hupfer has raised more than $120,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) through golf programs in honor of her father, Bruce Hupfer, who passed away from Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer in 2006 at the age of 59.
For those who have tried everything and have still been unable to lose weight and keep it off, surgery may become another option. Bariatric surgery offers not just a change, but a lifelong commitment to better health.
We met with the colorectal surgeon. Jim's surgery to fix the hole in his colon is now scheduled for Nov. 12! He still has to have a catheter in, but being able to move around with the leg bag is so much better than the large bag. Now that we have a date set, we have hopefully an ending in sight.
Today we had to meet with the original surgeon to find out Jim's three month PSA level check after surgery. It came back as .01!!!!! Yeah!!! I cannot keep the tears from coming while in the doctor's office. So great to hear that Jim is cancer free right now!
My novel includes organ transplantation as part of the theme and I am grateful to the team at UCLA for their input on this topic. I am looking for an agent/publisher and would be grateful for any leads or suggestions.
I really enjoy hearing all of your situations pertaining to PC. Everyone has a story. I am a 7 year survivor of stage 4 PC with metastasis to my spine, ribs and pelvis. Until 4 weeks ago, my treatment has been hormonal. I have been on several clinical trials and various medications.
As I have passed the three month post op and am into my 14th week I can't help but think just how far I have come and the impact this disease has had on me, not so much physically even though that 4 inch purple scar below is a lifetime reminder but mentally. I now know that I am not bullet proof.
Anyone here ever dealt with a heart murmur? I have one that can be corrected but it cost about $100K to do it. I can't understand how putting in a small valve can possibly cost so much. The hospitals have got to be making a massive profit.
Your road to an organ transplant starts with the physician or specialist who is providing your care. If he or she determines that you are in organ failure or may soon be in organ failure, you will be referred to a transplant center.
The average recipient spends months or even years anticipating organ transplant surgery, waiting and hoping for the day that will provide a second chance at a healthy life.
